In October of 2015, one math tutor and one student sat down at the Coffee Shop in downtown Pampa to begin completing math homework. Today, our 25 staff members facilitate programs year-round to support and enrich the educational and extracurricular journeys of hundreds of students. In the evenings, we tutor almost 100 public school students in math and reading each week. During the day, we teach 150 full-time, part-time and homeschool students who simply need an alternative educational setting which meets their specific needs. In the summers we offer more than 40 STEAM and sports programs to give kids a break from screens and get them engaged in fun and challenging hands-on learning experiences.
Our mission is simple: help as many students as we can with top-tier services at a cost families can afford. Our philosophy is not revolutionary: hard work and dedication will yield results. Our techniques are time-tested: strong relationships, paper, pencil, real books.
And we're by no means serving just the "privileged". Full-time tuition for The Well is only $375 per month- a third of the state average for private school. Our tutoring rate is only $60 per month for a weekly hour-long session, and our summer programs range between $5 and $11 an hour. The Well is a place where both the socioeconomically "advantaged" and "disadvantaged" get the same high level of attention and care because we believe all people are inherently valuable and uniquely gifted.
Yet, despite our modest rates, more than 25% of our full-time students are utilizing scholarship funds to off-set the cost of tuition. This year, like no year before, our greatest need is scholarship funds. The current economy has made it incredibly difficult for many families to afford even basic necessities (like groceries and doctor visits), so we have seen a dramatic increase in both the number and size of requests for financial assistance. Nevertheless, we are committed to meeting each and every one of these families "where they're at", so that every kid still gets what they need. If you share our vision, please consider donating to our scholarship fund. Your investment in our students is an investment in your very own community!
