The Leaders Readers Network

A nonprofit organization

Join our Reading Movement to increase literacy support for classrooms across the Texas Panhandle!

The Leaders Readers Network (TLRN) is an award-winning 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Canyon, Texas. Its mission is to create a network of leaders who provide books, supplies and projects to support early literacy at underfunded schools. TLRN is dedicated to equitable education and literacy for all students. Each school year, we partner with educators, students and community members to provide over 50,000 brand new books, service projects, and read aloud experiences.

This is a call to action to ask current and new donors and volunteers to support the Leaders Readers Network mission and impact this school year and years to come. Join TLRN’s Reading Movement and show up for children and educators who are in need of our collaborative and supportive efforts. Reading scores are at a historic low, book access is needed across our public schools due to limited funds. Through your partnership, children and educators receive the gift of read-aloud experiences, book giveaways, and access to high-quality literacy programming that supports classrooms and inspires a love of reading.

The Challenge

In the Texas Panhandle, too many children are falling behind in reading because their schools and homes don’t have access to books, resources, and teachers aren’t getting the support they need.

At many Title I schools, fewer than half of students are reading on grade level by 3rd grade—a milestone that predicts future academic and career success. Without access to high-quality texts in the classroom and at home, these students face steep barriers to opportunity.

Hear about the challenges from educators in the Texas Panhandle:

As TLRN partners with educators, students and community members to reverse this trend, we need your support.

Our Solution: The Literacy Fellowship

That’s why the Leaders Readers Network (TLRN) created the Literacy Fellowship and Student Literacy Leader Program.

Each year, we partner with educators across the Texas Panhandle to provide:

  • Read aloud books  and book giveaways

  • Student-led service projects and read-aloud experiences

  • Professional development and year round literacy support

Here’s what educators are sharing about the impact of our support across the Texas Panhandle:
