Our goal is to provide help that has both immediate and long-term impact through our shoe closet and mentoring programs.
Shoe ClosetThe Shoe closet distributes new or practically new athletic type shoes to people of ages at all 5 Amarillo area school districts, as well as agencies, and ministries in the Amarillo-Canyon area. So far in the 25-26 school year, we've given away 858 pairs of shoes and 18,850 pairs of shoes since the shoe closet started in 2010.
ParentChild+Mission Amarillo is part of a nationwide network of ParentChild+ sites stepping in with early intervention to ensure under-resourced families can prepare their children to start school on equal footing with more privileged families. As of today, the majority of the children enrolled are from our refugee community, helping them not only get ready for school, but to learn American culture and become functional in English.
Be-LovedBe Loved is a faith-based ministry that builds holistic relationships to transform families, impact generations, and communities. No matter what we are doing, our goal is to see our teen/young moms in the Amarillo area move from surviving to thriving! We currently have over 20 young moms receiving mentorship. We've also launched Be-Loved House, a transitional housing facility where moms can live for up to 2 years. The goal of Be-Loved House is to allow moms to focus on their future rather than just survive the present.
365Dad365 Dad is a faith based, holistic mentoring program for dads 35 and younger. Our goal is to help dads understand who they are, what their values are, what issues they face, and how those issues can effect their fatherhood. Once dads have a grasp on these core issues, they can become the type of father they always wanted to be, and more importantly, the type of father their children need.
Mission Amarillo is a ministry to young people in need in our area. Our mission statement is... Loving our neighbor, equipping for life.
Currently we consist of three programs.
Our shoe closet distributes new shoes to the five school districts in our area free of charge. We have given away over 11,000 pairs of shoes since the shoe closet's inception in 2010.
Be-Loved is a ministry to teen moms. Each mom is assigned a mentor and are encouraged to pursue a future that provides what's best for them and their baby.
ParentChild+ is a program for young moms with kids ages 2-4 that helps build the parent child relationship and prepares their child for school. Our home visitors go to these homes twice a week, delivering a developmental toy or book. Each child will receive 92 visits over 2 years and are 30% more likely to graduate high school then their socioeconomic peers upon completion.
