Ronald McDonald House of Amarillo

When we hear from Ronald McDonald House families, the ones currently utilizing our services and the ones who stayed here 20 years ago, one word that almost always comes up is “home.” From the friendly faces at our front desk to the nightly meals, comfortable beds, hot showers, community spaces and generous supplies of snacks, this place just feels like “home” for so many when not much else does. Our House becomes that one constant source of refuge, comfort, and relief.

It costs approximately $125 to house a family at our House each night, but no family pays for their stay. When families are away from home and work for extended periods caring for a sick or injured child, the bills continue to stack up at home and new medical expenses accrue each day. Figuring out how they can stay together is that last thing they should worry about. When families have children and early babies in the hospital, it’s not just emotionally taxing; it’s also beyond challenging financially. Because of continued support from friends like yourself, families don’t have to worry about where they will sleep, what they will eat, or how they will get to the hospital when they lack transportation.

We don’t just care for families while they are here; we also help to ensure they have all of the tools and resources needed to succeed when they return home. When you support our mission during The Panhandle Gives, you aren’t just providing a place to stay and eat while they are here. You are also investing in our families as they return home with resources such as gas, groceries, baby formula, and other critical support needs.

From November 24 – December 2, when you give your gift will be amplified with matching funds from various Ronald McDonald House donors, plus additional support from the Amarillo Area Foundation’s Amplification Fund. 

Our goal this year is to raise $80,000 during the campaign – enough to fund the first 500 nights in our House as we start the new year, plus additional resources and ongoing support to help families thrive once they get back home. It's our biggest goal we have ever set, but with your support, we know we can reach it together!
