High Plains Choral Society

The High Plains Choral Society with be celebrating our 6th season in 2026-2027. We are a professional choir committed to promoting choral excellence and advocating for area Middle and High School choral programs through educational outreach. This group began with a vision of a group of choral directors who wanted to sing in a choir again. These visionary musicians also wanted to provide opportunities to enhance growth in our area Middle School and High school choirs. Among many outreaches, we have provided clinics in the fall to help high school students to prepare for auditions in the TMEA All State Choir process. In the spring we sponsor a 6th Grade Honor Choir event for all of the Panhandle area choirs. We launched a new high school organization, Vox Nova, to give high school students an valuable opportunity to participate in a choral experience. We have also created a long awaited festival, designed to bring excellence to high school chamber ensembles throughout our area. We present two concerts per year. Students are admitted without cost. Our founding artistic director was Brandon Farren, Canyon High School Choir Director. Our current artistic director is Dr. Sarah Herrington, Director of Music Education, Amarillo ISD.
