Amarillo Young Life

This generation of students is facing more struggles and difficulties than ever before. They are under increased pressure from extracurricular activities, home lives and work expectations. They struggle with "Digital Anxiety," FOMO, social comparison, and the need to hide behind a "perfect mask."  These students carry the weight of feeling they must achieve to be special. They must be "perfect" to be loved. 

Amarillo Young Life works on the front lines building relationships with students in their world. Since 1970, our leaders have been reaching local students using four key principles: Contact Work (one-on-one and small group time with a leader to dive deeper and reinforce relationships and trust), Club (a weekly "party with a purpose" where students gather for fun, games, music, and a Bible lesson), Campaigners (a weekly Bible study), and Camp (a time to grow deeper with leaders and other students through adventure and fun while learning more about the greatest love story of all- Jesus). Once these relationships are built, students develop trust with their leaders and begin to remove their "masks." Our leaders offer encouragement, mentorship, and show these students they are worthy of love and worthy of time no matter where they come from or what they are hiding.

We have active ministries at Sam Houston Middle School, Caprock, Randall, Amarillo High, Tascosa, and WTAMU. Over 400 students attend our events weekly! We are grateful for how many students we are currently reaching, but we also recognize there are many more we have not reached. And we know that students are hungry for love and acceptance and are searching for this. 

We are seeking to launch ministries at Bonham Middle School and West Plains High School to reach more students with the hope of Christ while growing our current ministries. 

Our goal of $50,000 would allow our leaders to continue sharing meals with students, provide food for weekly Bible studies, and provide materials for our weekly club meetings. It would allow us to continue expanding and deepening our current ministries and allow us to launch new ministries at Bonham and West Plains so more students are reached, known, and met with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
