In the rural Texas Panhandle, getting mental health care isn't always as simple as making an appointment.

For many of our neighbors, the barriers are real: no insurance, high deductibles or copays, limited financial resources, long waiting lists, and too few mental health professionals serving our rural communities. Sometimes the help someone needs simply isn't available—or isn't affordable.

Hopeful Horizons Outreach was created to change that.

We provide access to free and low-cost mental health services for individuals and families across 13 counties in the Eastern Texas Panhandle: Childress, Collingsworth, Cottle, Donley, Foard, Gray, Hall, Hardeman, Hemphill, Lipscomb, Ochiltree, Roberts, and Wheeler Counties.

Through individual and family counseling, group programs, community outreach, education, and connections to resources, we are working to close the gap between needing help and actually being able to receive it.

But our vision goes beyond paying for counseling sessions.

We want to strengthen mental health care in our rural communities for the long term—supporting local mental health professionals, expanding services into underserved areas, reducing stigma, and creating communities where asking for help is met with a clear path to getting it.
