Another Chance House: A Different Future Is Possible
For some, it began with an injury and a prescription that turned into years of addiction. For others, it was the invisible wounds of military service, a marriage that fell apart, or the loss of a job that once provided stability. Some grew up surrounded by trauma, never knowing what it felt like to have a safe place to land.
Main HouseDifferent men. Different stories. But somewhere along the way, the life they had worked for, or the life they had hoped to build, slipped out of reach.
Homelessness doesn't always happen all at once. Sometimes it's the result of years of struggles, losses, and circumstances that become too much to overcome alone.
But those experiences don't define who these men are, and they don't have to determine who they become.
For 38 years, Another Chance House has helped men turn the possibility of a different future into a plan for getting there. And people like you have helped make that possible.
A Place to Begin Again. A Plan to Move Forward.
Founded in Amarillo in 1988, Another Chance House began with a single house and a commitment to helping men rebuild their lives. Today, our community of 18 properties supports a structured transitional program designed to help men move from instability toward lasting self-sufficiency.
The men who enter our program aren't looking for someone to live their lives for them. They're looking for an opportunity to do things differently, with the structure, guidance, and resources to make that change possible.Residents, Staff and Volunteers Working together to build new plater boxes
Through individualized case management, employment readiness, financial literacy, life-skills education, and connections to community resources, residents begin building the foundation for independence.
Our program follows a phased approach, with clear expectations and increasing responsibility. Men work toward employment, financial stability, personal growth, and ultimately, a place of their own.
Progress takes commitment. There are challenges along the way, and sometimes setbacks. But each step forward is something a man has earned through his own effort.
Your generosity helps make sure he has the opportunity to take that step.
Bill Celebrates 1 year Sober! What Change Really Looks Like
Change isn't always one big, life-changing moment.
Sometimes it's a man receiving his first paycheck after months without work. It's learning to manage money instead of living from one crisis to the next. It's paying off a debt, rebuilding trust with family, or realizing that the goals he once thought were out of reach are becoming possible.
For a veteran, it may mean finding stability and purpose after years of struggling with the transition to civilian life. For a father, it may mean becoming someone his children can depend on again.
These moments don't happen because someone handed a man a new life. They happen because he chose to work toward one.
In 2025, Another Chance House served 88 men, including 39 veterans. Each brought a different story through our doors, and each had the opportunity to work toward a future defined by something other than his past.
And because of people like you, that work continues.
