Eveline's Sunshine Cottage

They come to us from different backgrounds, weighed down
with “heavy baggage”. The past has left them with anxiety from addiction,
depression, childhood abuse, sociopathic husbands, homelessness, prison… the
list of reasons goes on and on. Eveline’s Sunshine Cottage works to put new
life into a single-parent Mom, who has the desire and determination to rise above
the anxieties of their pasts, earn a college degree, and become a successful
role model for the next generation—their children and beyond. Our process
starts with settling the moms and their children into their own home away from
home, or for some a home away from homelessness. Their home comes fully
furnished and decorated, and you will find cheerful yet calming yellow walls
and bedrooms in an array of happy colors. We make sure they have new computers,
study areas, and Wi-Fi in preparation for the studying and school work that is
to come. For everyday loads of laundry, we provide a fully stocked,
free laundry room so everyone has fresh and clean clothing to take on
their daily adventures. We now have 27 moms who have graduated from
college, (and 10 more Moms, working to be added to that list) most with 4-year
degrees, some now working on Masters Degrees. They have experienced the yellow
walls, the laundry room chats, the advice towards healthy eating, the bonding
of friendship created by a sisterhood, and best of all, they all have pride in
themselves for a better future! We are proud of the women who have graduated and
become role models for their children, and we can only pray that they are a
sign of hope for the single moms out there, right now, struggling and in need.
