Darrouzett Education Foundation

What we do: 

The program was established to enhance educational opportunities in the school district for current students, staff members, and former students as a vehicle to provide funding to educational programs, scholarships, and projects which are not within the budgetary guidelines and/or for which tax dollars cannot be expended. 

DEF is funding scholarships to graduating seniors who are attending colleges or universities, trade schools, or a business training school.  We also provide scholarships to juniors and seniors for dual credit courses thru Frank Phillips College.  We also administer scholarship funds donated by other businesses, organizations and individuals.  Scholarships awarded to graduating seniors are presented during graduation exercises.

Our hope for the future is to provide financial assistance for continuing education growth for staff members and former students still furthering their education after their freshman year when we are financially able.

Our History: 

The desire to establish an educational foundation at Darrouzett ISD had been discussed for several years, but no action had be taken.  The process to organize an education foundation began with 2 board of education trustees seeking information when in attendance at the Texas School Board Convention in 2007.  Information was obtained on “How to Form a Texas Non-Profit Organization” from an exhibit booth.  Thus the first step of the process began.  The Darrouzett Education Foundation (DEF) was organized September 30, 2008.
