Jericho Legacy Foundation

JERICHO WAS NEVER SUPPOSED TO DISAPPEAR. 

Jericho, Texas - Donley County was once a living Panhandle community filled with families, schoolchildren, railroad workers, farmers, travelers and even a hometown baseball team.  The Chicago Rock Island came through. Route 66 came through. Generations built lives here. 

Then the road moved.

and little by little, Jericho began disappearing.

Today, the buildings that remain are weathered, fragile and irreplaceable.  But Jericho's story is still here.  And the Jericho Legacy Foundation is working to make sure it stays that way.

Generations before Jericho became known as a ghost town, this was a community where people lived, worked, went to school and played ball.

1000 People. $66 Each. One Historic Town

Our goal for The Panhandle Gives is bold: bring together 1000 people who believe places like Jericho are worth saving.  A gift of $66 honors Jericho's connection to historic Route 66, while helping preserve a story that began long before the highway arrived.  Together 1000 gifts of $66 can raise $66,000 for preservation.
